Computer science professor Michael DeGennaro has died

Michael DeGennaro, an adjunct professor of Computer Science at the University for 25 years, died on February 2.

DeGennaro served in the United States Army at the Pentagon in the Behavioral Science Research Laboratory, and was employed by LILCO/Keyspan for over 30 years as a Major Projects Division Manager. The East Islip resident also taught at SUNY Farmingdale and Suffolk Community College.

Active in many civic and conservation societies, he requested in lieu of flowers for donations to be made in his name to East Islip Historical Society or Paws for Cause Pet Rescue.

DeGennaro’s funeral was held on Sunday, February 7.
